Sunday Smiles ♥

Sunday can be a grim cocktail of a hangover from Saturday evening and the impending gloom of Monday morning, however it doesn't have to be this way! While I am unable to offer a better hangover cure than Berocca and a bacon sandwich, I do hope to bring a small smile to your Sunday, making the thought of Monday morning seem a little more bearable.

No promise has been given to you for this night- no, I have suggested too long a respite- no promise has been given even for this hour
Taken from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

I'm in love with you and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I am in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout out into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable and that we are all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labour has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I'm in love with you.
John Green, TFIOS

Yearning: at the core of this desire is the belief that everything can be perfect
David Levithan

None of us were angels
Imogen Heap

And if we turned back time could we learn to live life?
Lucy Rose

To have it all and still want more,
one things for sure we're all getting older and before you know it we're pushing up the daises
The Maccabees

I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections,
Or the beauty of innuendos,
The blackbird whistling,
Or just after.
Wallace Stevens

Rolling river of truth, Can you spare me a sip, The holy fountain of youth, Has been reduced to a drip

The Killers

Tomorrow I’ll be quicker, I’ll stare into the strobe light, flickering afloat I’ll stay, I’m quite alright hiding today.
Tomorrow i’ll be faster, i’ll catch what I’ve been chasing after and have time to play, I’m quite alright hiding today
Alex Turner

There’s only a few things in the world that turn me into a giant squid of anger, and one of them begins, ‘My boyfriend thinks I’m too smart for him
John Green

Be bold, be bold and everywhere be bold
Herbert Spencer

Another head aches, another heart breaks, I'm so much older than I can take
The Killers

Where's your passion? Where's your fire tonight?
Twin Atlantic

You will never know just how beautiful you are to me
Ed Sheeran

Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart
Wordsworth

Thank you very much for reading my blog! I hope you've had a good week, we had the talk about flats for September this week in halls and it has caused some tension. One group of girls came to the table having already decided that they were living together which left the three of us remaining feeling rather excluded.

They don't feel that they have acted tactlessly and personally I find that frustrating but I also know that within my own personality I have the bad habit of sulking and nursing perceived slights to my ego rather than letting go and forgiving. So things are a bit strained here but I don't want our friendship to disintegrate so I am going to have to make a concerted effort this week to forgive and move on.

This is a gorgeous song by the beautiful and exquisitely talented Niki and the Dove, enjoy!

Imagining the future is a form of nostalgia
John Green

If you forgave me I would sleep at night

Kites rise against, not with, the wind
Lewis Mumford

Can you catch me when I drop? I know there'll never be no Superman
Big Pink

The  size and age of the cosmos are beyond ordinary human understanding, lost somewhere between immensity and eternity. Is our tiny planetary home... I believe that our future depends on how well we know this Cosmos in which we float. Like a mote of dust in the morning sky
Carl Sagan

Thank you very much for reading my blog. I love the Carl Sagan quote; at school I found physics irrelevant and dull but thanks to the likes of Brian Cox and Hank Green my interest in what lies beyond this tiny blue marble on which we live has been re-ignited.

And when the world heads into a fiery destruction if I am able to witness it, this song with it's beautiful cinematic majesty might be what I would want to listen to...
